Walking Down The Road

I was walking down the road in a metropolitin
I see rush and crowd in the scene
And a man comes down to me when he asks me for an address
Then I say I don't know what you mean

People say time is money but I just disagree
All people were fools who said it
Look at me I am just so free all day long I have the time
But still I have no credit

As I walk a bit ahead I see a friend in a wedding suit
His fortune smiles on him
He's gonna marry a girl whose father is too rich
It would have been no different had I been in place of him

But I have a good house and I have a sweet spouse
Kidding! We live in a slum
But still we try to be happy with whatever we have
That's the height of optimism

I may be a fraud or a cheat but that's situational
I think that my conscience's still clean
When your wallet's not full or you don't have a wallet
You will know exactly what I mean

O my god I was just too lost in my thoughts
I think my stomach needs food
But somebody has played the good old trick on me
And left me only to brood

Then I wish I were rich like Mr. X
Then I have less tension to bear
Wait a minute don't the rich have much more tension
Than guys like us so poor

I thank you Almighty for giving me nothing
And still giving me everything
This is what made me write this stupid silly song
And then aloud I sing

The Story Behind

This song is nothing more than a dedication. But the person I am going to dedicate this song to is by no means unimportant to me.

He is Benny Hill one of the greatest comedians of all time. Benny needs no introduction. Still for me he was one source of non-stop entertainment with The Benny Hill Show and easily Britan's greatest comedian. I became a big fan of his when I was 18 and since then he has been impressing me with his sarcastic humour and his songs and his dance and his facial expressions are all magical. Only BENNY can do them.

Though critics accuse him for his comedy being too sexist projecting nude women as sex symbols and Benny playing the Playboy my poem does not uncover that facet of his show.

Instead my song tries to emulate the innumerable songs which Benny wrote sung and performed and made them classics.

I know I can't be even 10% good as the great man but this song is just a humble tribute to the Late Benny Hill (who untimely passed away of a heart attack in 1992).
