I've got to go you see
The morning hail calls me
I better stand on my feet
But the sleepy eyes meet....
You see my body needs me
As much as I need it
My body's diabetic
The pain makes me tic
The cool breeze that blows
As I run it still flows
Carrying me along
Along with the throng
Enough of a run
Its time for a bun
Its time for some speed
The work place and its need
The list is too long
The work is too tough
Its the time to bluff
A professional's song
The seniors then eye
Being O so numb
But I am no crumb
But still they spy
I feel like leaving it all
Then ponder over dreams
Which yield me only screams
Hey ! you got a call
Its from my friends
Noble's their deed
Some help they need
And I help them
That day I feel
I did my bit
To the society I owe
Such a huge debt
It gave me all
A wife kids and their love
And it made me dive
In to the waterfall
Enough of my lullaby
I know it makes you sleep
As I say this my back aches
But I still have to clear the heap
A heap of sorrows a heap of joys
I got to distribute
I am the patriarch you see
So let me play the flute
The Story Behind
The Patriarch describes my father. But I have written it as if he was describing himself in his own words.
It describes the day in the life of my father and indirectly his busy schedule gives a brief account of his life and the person that he is. Here the word 'Patriarch' is used not only in context to our family but also in relation to the people he knows well.
My father loves or rather lives music. Today when people hardly have a time to listen to music, my father lives with the music that is forced upon him (i.e. the noise) and the music that is so close to his heart and to make peace he plays the flute. This is what the last line of the poem means.
