The pride keeps hovering around
Seems not to leave at all
But leaves when all the leaves fall
That makes me wonder!
The tree looks very barren
Still the bright sun shines
Over so many shrines....
That makes me wonder!
The rains come and go albeit
The tree still looks the same
The branches now bending in shame
That makes me wonder!
The birds, the beasts, the flowers...
And more it fed them how?
Pride is just a memory now
That makes me wonder!
The tree now tells mankind
"As you seek and hide
Just surrender your pride"
Yes I surrender!
The Story Behind
"I can proudly say that I am a great poet." The day I utter these words, I am finished. I don't think I will be able to write another poem. But fortunately, I am far away from reaching that stage.
But today, many people feel that they are too great and are boastful or too proud in nature.
This poem is a reminder for them as it tells them that in this cosmos, no soul is truly bothered on anyone's death. Grief is natural but is only temporary. People still carry on with their lives and the sun still continues to rise in the east. Nothing changes really even if you are no more. You are just too small in the big scheme of things.
This poem aims at making people realise to keep pride as their friend.
Self respect is important. But don't let it act against you.
