I go to the zoo one day
Of all the beasts I see
Those inside are pathetic
And those outside are free
As I move along
In a separate cage
Isolated, kept alone
A lion is in rage
The roars and the cries are heard
And people scorn at him
The lion's just waiting for
The water to cross the brim
And the golden day arrives
The lion waiting to pounce
Kills his master in a shot
Never to renounce
The uncrowned king he is
He glides his way to home
In the jungles where he belongs
In a crowd of protective dome
The crowds go berserk
A mere spectator I am
People run helter-skelter
But the lion hurts no man
And I think to myself
Why the lion did no harm?
Was he not too bothered
Or did he fear the swarm
But the lion had to love and live
Lick his cubs one last time
His heart knew how to love
Love that is sublime
The Story Behind
Animals know how to love too. Its has been scientifically proved that if you love an animal, the animal responds to your love immediately; sometimes much more spontaneously than a human being.
These innocent animals show a brighter spark of love, sympathy and honesty than most of the human beings. This even includes carnivorous animals like the lion.
This poem takes a look at a similar scenario.
