O my love, you see the world above the sky
When you don't see the watery eye
Like a sailor I march through the sea
When the conscience bites and baggers me
And I want to thank you and bid to you
Like a rose your hand is scarlet too
Your hand is in my hand
As the party moves with the band
I sail through the oceans and the seas
Row and Row I go with tiring ease
When the oars are slow and still
You incre-men-ted my will
Now I see the grassland and the shore
Scurrying on I reach till the door
In there I see only me
Cause my love lies only in the sea
The Story Behind
The song describes the voyage of the sailor through the sea. It describes his painful farewell from his loved ones and his long journey through the sea.
It shows how a lonely sailor gathers his will just by the memory of his loved ones and that gives him hope that he will make the journey a successful one.
As he reaches the shore, and he opens the door ("the door" implies that his loved ones were waiting by the door for him); he finds himself lonely within. That's when he realises that his real love lies in sailing through the sea. That way though he may be away from his people, he may still feel their presence in the cold waters where he must return and where he belongs.
