He cannot see the world
With his open eyes
He cannot hear a word
In a world full of lies
And he cannot be heard
Even when he cries
But he can feel the power of love
Feel the evil linger above
Like the Mahatma's monkeys who
Filter all the evil through
He has an easier job to do
In a world left with noble few
The Story Behind
This poem takes a cynical look at life. It talks about a man who is unfortunately deaf, dumb and blind. He understands feelings of love and hatred but has never been able to hear or see or speak to the world around him.
But this poem calls the man fortunate for he is born like the ideal monkeys insisted by Mahatma Gandhi who filter all the evil through their senses and keep them open only for the good.
The fortunate man however has an easier job to do. In a world full of hatred, violence and jealousy, he realises that he hasn't missed much inspite of his deficiency. That's when he realises that he has been cursed with a blessing.
