I'm waiting for the cold cold night
When stars would bring the sky to light
Seem so close yet so far
I'm looking for the pole star
The brightest of the lot I see
Will show the right way to me
To heaven with my every stride
A journey through the stars I ride
When I follow the silver light
In the endless sky out of my sight
The Story Behind
I had been on a brief vacation to South India. On one of the hill stations there, I saw the most amazing sight in the sky.
The sky was full of countless number of stars all twinkling and shining brightly in the sky. I had never seen so many stars in the sky before.
Because I am an avid sky watcher, this sight fascinated me. That prompted me to write this poem.
This poem describes a very beautiful and enticing sight that I was fortunate to witness on a cold wintry night in the sky.
It also made me realise how insignificant is my presence in front of the limitless sky.
