Jesus: The Son Of God

In a time, when You were born
The world was being butchered
Under the hands of inhumanity
But Your message was love
People drenched their sorrows
In the milk of Your kindness
You became our true Saviour
Who knew his brutal destiny
Under the hands of his own people
In front of His own loving mother
Who swallowed Her tears and
Sacrificed Her very own Son
Every whip lash and piece of flesh,
Every nail pierced in Your body,
The streams of blood that flow
Remind us of the ultimate sacrifice
You made, to preserve humanity
You surrendered on the Holy cross
To the supreme will of God
But blessed are all those who
Were privileged to be with you or
Believed in You and Your Father
To whom You pray for mercy to all
You truly are the Son of God

The Story Behind

I just watched the movie 'The Passion of the Christ' a few days ago. I was shocked by what I saw. No I was not feeling giddy or uncomfortable watching too much blood or too many gory scenes filled with graphic violence. I was quite okay with that. What shocked me was the fact that all this execution was being carried out on a person which the whole world today recognizes as God. Jesus Christ: the Son of God, the Saviour of humanity, God for some and a Saviour of love and kindness for some.

Such a great and Holy man dying such a merciless death goes to show the quiet sacrifice of this man and also goes to show the limit of human cruelty. Mother Mary too sacrificed a lot watching the death of her Son helplessly with her own eyes. Christ's message was love, i.e. love one another and inspite of that he got such a horrible death sentence which he accepted without complaining.

This poem is my humble tribute to this truly incredible man who according to me is the Son of God.
