Reflections Of A Soul

Poetry is a piece of art
A poem comes from my heart

A feeling or a state of mind
A place in where I could find

A way to pour my feelings through
In times of joy, in times of blue

My poem, for the ones I know
Is just a phase when I feel low

Very few have lend an ear why?
I've read them all, the tears are dry

Some laughed me off on my face
But I still do find solace

Each time a new poem takes birth
Just like a woman's greatest mirth

The Story Behind

This poem is one of its kind. That's because it is about poetry. Its about why I write poems, what inspires me, how some people react to my poetry. Most importantly, it is about how much I enjoy poetry.

For any woman in this world, her greatest perception of joy is when she becomes a mother. When she knows she is pregnant, she is curious, excited and sometimes even too worried about baby that is going to take birth. But once she sees the face of her dear child, she acheives what is the highest manifestation of joy.

That's exactly how I feel when I write a poem. Many thoughts and emotions start lingering in my mind. I feel a strong urge to jot them down. Sometimes I do get them right, many other times it takes several attempts to get them right. There are moments of ecstacy, curosity, nervousness and depression if I don't enjoy my own poem. But when I see the final product i.e. the final poem structure, its not just a poem, but my own baby. Just the thought of having created something is so blissful,I don't really mind the labour pains.

I just hope every time I am just as inspired to raise my baby that is delivered straight from the bottom of my heart.
