Nothing Ever Changed

Nothing ever changed the day you left me
Nothing that my smile would show
Nothing ever changed the cries that follow glee
Tears through my eyes would flow

O don't you flee is my lone plea
It's you that I adore
I wish you knew that I miss you
Left with your sweet memory

Nothing ever changed the day you left me
Nothing as we part, we go
Nothing ever changed my failed apology
Winds of grief still blow

Nothing to see, nothing to be
I'm left to cry alone
I'm O so blue only for you
My wasted heart could love

Nothing ever changed the day you left me
Nothing that your heart should know
Nothing ever changed the times that follow me
I'm left to die alone

The Story Behind

I wrote this song spontaneously as I was walking down a street. Of course, I wrote it in my mind then. I sang this song in the bathroom after coming home. Actually, it would be difficult to decide, what should come first the lyrics or the tune. In my case they both seem to happen simultaneously. I usually start humming a random tune that strikes my mind and melts my heart. I some how get the lyrics to start with and then as the song moves ahead, the lyrics just keep on coming. That's why I call it spontaneous.

Here is a touching song which describes the story of unrequited love after the lover is unsuccessful at getting the love of his life. He says 'Nothing ever changed' and that's true for the entire world surrounding him. That world never changed. But the irony is that no other thing changed except for him. That girl meant the world to him. That's why when she left him, his world changed drastically. It was never the same again. He was left to cry and die all alone. All he has in store now was sweet memories of her. That nothing ever changed is a partial reality, a biting sarcasm and an epitome of self pity of oneself.
