The Biggest Question Mark

Did God make man?
Or did man make God?

Whether God is love?
Or whether love is God?

Is God a man?
Or is man a God?

Did He make the cosmos?
Or is He the cosmos?

Is religion a way to God?
Or is religion away from God?

Do we need to believe in Him?
Or we believe because we need Him?

Do we live to die?
Or do we die to live?

Does every question have an answer?
Does every answer have a question?

Is the truth still in the dark?
That's the biggest question mark.

The Story Behind

There is only one sentence (the last one) that ends with a fullstop in this poem. Otherwise the entire poem is just a series of controversial and contradictory questions on God, religion, the cosmos, the purpose of our life and our death.

I asked these questions to myself first and then to many people I knew or whom I considered as intelligent. But no one could give me a convincing answer. That's why they remain questions. I haven't even bothered to answer them.

That's what the last paragraph talks about. Is our belief just a facade? Are our attempts just futile attempts of guesswork? Why is it that every religion talks different things about God and the cosmos and the purpose of life and life after death? Is the real truth about God and the cosmos and the our death still unknown to us? Will science be able to answer these questions? That day, I promise to include the answers to these questions in my poem.
