With a face that always smiles
Our journey goes for miles
We learn to make a start
A smile from a child's heart
Shows us no hint of guile
And teaches us to smile
Just like the good old days
Where a happy memory stays
Unlike a face that says
Of the sham and selfish ways
In a world where we all know
The test of time would show
What we have lost in the wild
Is a face of an innocent child
The Story Behind
The smile of an innocent child is the most pleasing and pure sight in the whole world. That child knows no guile and deceit. That playful innocence, brings out the child in you. You become a child yourself. You learn to smile by looking at that face of a child.
This poem is my tribute to all those innocent and smiling children in the world which remind us of the goodness, innocence and laughter that exists in this world. It is also a take on the very special and lost age of childhood. Now that we are all grown up, we miss our uncomplicated, playful and slightly naive life as a child. There are no studies, no jobs and no real pressures or tensions on a child. Who wouldn't love to get back to that age? When we grow up, we get exposed to the big bad and ugly world. We lose our innocence. We repay the selfish world by simply reacting similarly. Our innocent face is no longer innocent. Its a series of fake laughters and sham promises and commitments.
Believe me, in this selfish world where everybody wears a mask of pretence on their face, I bet we all long for the true face of that smiling innocent child.
