I'll dim the light and say good night
To sing to you a sweet lullaby
Make no sound, don't you weep
For sleep shall gently close your eye
The moon will smile for a while
A white and peaceful light will gleam
But clouds will hide the smiling moon
For you my dear and your dream
As you sleep, I shall keep
A hand to caress you all night
Don't you fear, I'll be here
To stay with you like a ray of light
Dream of a pole star at a wee hour
And the stars in the sky will lead your way
Perish the evil, cherish the good
For the night gives birth to a bright new day
The Story Behind
I always wished to write a lullaby. I like to sing lullabies. There are many beautiful Hindi songs based on this theme. There is also a beautiful English song called 'Irish lullaby' sung by Bing Crosby.
So songs like these inspired me to write a lullaby. This is a simple and sweet song that you can recite to or sing to your little baby or your little child when the shadows of night reflect in those innocent little droopy eyes.
