To call life a game or a temporal fantasy!
For it's final round is meant to be death.
Alas! Our life is so meek before death.
And still after our death we seek a life.
Be it money, be it your name and your fame.
Be it moments of ecstasies, blues of sorrow.
Isn't everything in this world transitory?
Just in case the next time if you feel sad,
Or cry in depression over an unhappy memory.
When all hope is lost in a delusional gloom,
Look out in the bleak light for a ray of hope.
For that's an assurance: this too will change.
The Story Behind
This poem talks about an age old philosophy. Years ago Charles Darwin had formulated the Survival theory based on the same philosophy. Change, transition from one state to other, one life to other is just a natural and continuous process. Yesterday may never repeat it self today and who knows about a tomorrow? All we know that this is temporal and transitory. This will change some day. Obvious isn't it?
I know all of you would agree with me. But it is difficult to implement living with such a philosophy in real life. We are actually so attached to our family, our money, our status and we clench to our joys so tightly, that the separation process is that much more difficult. We know life is permanent, but still we cling on to it when death is about to take place. We know when we go apart, only then will we meet again. But we are not ready to part. We know if there are sad moments fresh in your memory, they will turn stale some day and then happy memories will take their place. We know a gloom time for today may give rise to happier times tomorrow and obviously that too would be just as transitory.
The fact that nothing ever remains steady through out and is bound to change is the central idea of this poem. That makes the life and death circular and an interesting phenomenon. That makes us digest a loss and hope for an upcoming fortune that rises from the same loss. That makes us bear the alternating cycle of laughs and sorrows that go on through our lives.
That makes us believe, have faith and hope in the fact that this too will change, for change is assured and guaranteed. It is the only result with a permanent probability. It is not just a state of mind. It is a way of life.
