What's it like to know the ultimate truth?
Call it an enlightenment or a revelation.
But the word of God is never untrue.
But I wonder whether the truth differs!
Each of us is equally human in nature.
Do we recognize the vastness of the ocean?
So many rivers merge in to become one.
And still we seek God in multitudes?
To perish the evil and to cherish the good,
We seek a Krishna, an Allah and a Christ.
Multitudes may be of a name or a place.
Like Muhammad got the word in a cave.
Buddha sought it under a Bodhi tree.
Moses got the Ten Commandments on a hill.
And Christ was blessed to call him Father.
So this is what they call as Nirvana!
For you and me to be one with the Lord,
From the endless transmigration of the soul,
Must we know of a path to the Divine Grace
Is just an eternal bliss in the light of God.
The Story Behind
We all claim God to be one. All the religions and the respective Holy Books preach beautiful things about their own God, but at the same time also admit that God is one. If there is one God and one truth about God, then why do so many religions exist? Why do all of them differ in many principles? Why do all the prophets of their respective world have different things to say? Are they really different at all?
This poem attempts to answer the questions about God, the ultimate truth about Him and a neglected matter of self perception. There is one line in the poem which says 'Call it an enlightenment or a revelation'. Are these two different? The truth that dawned upon Christ, Muhammad, Buddha, Moses is not at all different. All of them got one with the same God. Some called Him Father, others see Him as Allah and some others preferred to call it a divine cosmic energy. Based on this self perception those wise men during their time made the rules and that is how religions came into being. We are naïve if we don't get this simple logic. Like I said names and places are different. Based on that, the rules made are different and unique in their own way. But what we must never forget is that God is one. The truth about him is totally unique. Prophets and saints at different walks of life got one with that Almighty to restore good over evil, restore peace and teach us the word of God. Each of them did it in their own way. But they knew it so must we that though their may be superficial differences between their ways and thus between all religions in the world, such differences are highly immaterial. A closer look at the ideology would reveal that they preach the same thing: the ultimate truth.
