Blind Devotion

A while ago, I used to hate You.
I thought that you were merciless
Just to test the limit of my tolerance
Did you bombard me with difficulties?
But that was a test of true devotion.
And finally, I have passed the test.
You were testing the limit of my love
But now I love you so much more.
Our love that is so pure and sublime.
Can love ever attempt to be selfish?
No. Thus I too will learn to be selfless
And sacrifice my everything for You.
I seek no material joys anymore for,
The barrier between us has to break.
Give me a chance to be one with You.
Drowned in the milk of your compassion
My blind devotion may have to wait,
Only then, will my previous sins burn
I'll know the true cause of suffering.
Finally, seeds of purity will be sown.
We'll then get eternally connected
A bliss will moisten my memories.
I will then forget the 'me' and the 'I'
The blind devotion will open my eyes
For only You are the ultimate truth
Whereas 'I' am the biggest lie.

The Story Behind

This poem describes the experience and the power of devotion. True devotion is always blind. That's because you have to put your heart and soul into it. It's gambling with your life and only a blind person would do that.

However, if you have firm belief in your God or your Spiritual Master, he can elevate you to levels you have never reached before. He can destroy all the evil within you and replace it with only the divine. This requires devotion and patience from your side though, both of which I have in plenty. This poem shows us the inner strength of faith which can mould a character, bring about a complete transformation and bring one so close to God that he is oblivious to his own identity.
